Who could possibly be against free money? Certainly no one in the current bipartisan love-fest in Congress. In an election year, doling out cash is the political equivalent of Viagra. The only problem is, the country’s broke and we’re borrowing the money. Personally, I’ll probably use it to help pay off some credit card debt, as many economists suspect will be the case with a lot of middle class taxpayers. So much for economic stimulus.
God forbid our elected officials would exercise some fiscal restraint, but they can’t seem to stop themselves. The Senate, not to be outdone in matters of largesse when giving away other people’s money, tried to tack on some additional spending then settled on a mere $168 billion.

We’re cash advancing the nation into economic oblivion. It’s like on the family level when you start using one credit card to pay off another. At least the federal government gets a better rate than you can get on your Visa card.
